Lawrence, a little boy, and Sophia, a bird, both prefer to stay where they are: on the ground, and in the trees. They’ve found ways to make their friendship work from a distance. However, when a big storm looms over the horizon, both Lawrence and Sophia find themselves worrying about the other’s safety, and realize that they must be willing to step out of their comfort zones to help one another. Lawrence and Sophia is a warm and valuable story about the importance of friendship above all else, and teaches young readers the necessity of feeling uncomfortable sometimes.
Another optimistic story from the known and loved Llama Llama, everyone’s favorite character finds himself in a bind when he accidentally breaks Mama’s special picture frame playing ball with Nelly. Llama Llama doesn’t want to get in trouble or upset Mama, so he lies about what happened, but he regrets it immediately after. Now, Llama Llama must find a way to be brave and tell Mama what happened, even if that means admitting that he lied. As always, Anna Dewdney delivers a necessary message through the voice of the sweet Llama Llama and his struggle to stay out of trouble and remain honest all at once.
In a world that can feel so big and filled with sadness, Something, Someday reflects on the importance of doing your small part to help out, especially with a friend by your side. Rendered in sweet paper-like illustrations that portray possibilities of hope and change, Something, Someday is a beautiful example of growth, even in the most difficult circumstances.
