Larry awakens to find his world a desolate ruin where he and just handful of others have survived. With winter fast approaching, he and John, a young boy who has also miraculously survived the cataclysm, must find a way out of the urban destruction and across some of the most rugged terrain of the Mountain West. Along the way they must find food, water and shelter in a land where everything has been scorched and flattened. They must also come to terms with a new awakening of personal spirituality as they each search for a purpose and meaning in their experiences and circumstances. At the end of the journey can Larry and the few other survivors learn to accept each other and trust in the innate goodness of humanity to come together and along with Mother Nature build a sustainable community?
