The New Zealand Rugby Foundation is a charity set up in 1986. It focuses on supporting catastrophically injured rugby players financially and emotionally; fund raising activities; and working with New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and ACC to communicate the message of safety first, advocating safe play. Its patrons are Richie McCaw and Sir Graham Henry, and its activities are overseen by a board of several high-profile ex-All Blacks.
