Doing business nowadays often means globally, whether with clients, customers, or business partners. Communicating your message effectively—online or in person—has become a must. If you want the best outcome, you must serve the growing need for cultural training that links awareness to action.

“A masterclass in authentic global communication. Full of specific frameworks and actionable tips, it is a must-read for anyone looking to bolster or refine their professional communication toolkit.”—Elizabeth Owens Skidmore, Sponsorship Specialist, Bell Canada

In our increasingly interconnected world, effective communication is the formula for success in any industry. Whether you’re speaking in public, writing an email, or navigating an important negotiation, how you present yourself through language is all-important in today's global business world. In How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere, two New York University professors reveal a new approach to global communication across key performance areas, including effective emailing, public speaking, and negotiation.

How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere, with key illustrations, is part instructional text, part empowering workbook, containing practical and proven strategies that can be put to immediate use, along with exercises designed to impart valuable self-discovery and position you as an effective global communicator. You will gain not only the practical skills essential for operating across cultural settings but also a firm foundation for managing global transactions, international relationships, and worldwide innovation.

We all know how to email, right? But contacting counterparts in China, Brazil, or Germany with success requires us to upgrade our skills with key strategies for an expanded and productive network of global interaction. Each chapter contains a practical, easy-to-implement framework that functions as a “blueprint” for global communication and how each skill can best be used virtually in remote work scenarios.

For professionals looking to take their skill set to the next level, this book’s approach is the key to connecting professional skills to a larger practice of global understanding, ultimately leading to you communicating effectively and impactfully with anyone, anytime, and anywhere.

Praise For…

“This book just goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks! I've been teaching presentation skills at an international organization for over 20 years, but learned so much from this wonderfully written resource. Backed by research and personal experience, but written in an engaging and very readable style, this book is a must-read for anyone in the global communications field.”
— Mary Regan, Language and Communications Specialist, United Nations

“When I began managing global teams, I realized that communicating effectively across cultures and different ways of working would be key to success. Written communication between cross functional teams can be misinterpreted if not done correctly to disastrous results. This book is the perfect guide for creating targeted communication for a global audience.”
— Keith Malone, Senior Director, Entertainment Development, The Lego Group

“Raul, Dan, and Rod reframe networking as a practice of discovering, listening, and cultivating relationships. They rightly highlight that expanding our horizons and connecting with people who have different experiences and perspectives than our own, and people with shared interests rather than shared backgrounds, can expose us to new ideas and improve outcomes for all.”

— Maddy Hoffman, Product Manager, Google

“An unusual and potentially very valuable addition to the often generic presentation and networking books that clog up our bookshelves.”
— Financial Times

“This book makes it clear that "effective communication" and "inclusivity" are one-and-the-same. The more we understand those we communicate with, the easier it will be to treat them respectfully and with an open mind."
— Gabbi Cisneros, Porchlight Book Company

“This is the book that I needed 10 years ago. It’s the best source I’ve read that helps with the basics of communication but also helps on how to connect with people on a global scale. With the amount of shoots and work we do internationally this book would have been beneficial to me so many times in the past. Unfortunately, I had to figure it out on my own but now wished I had this book to have guided me.”

— Michael Waldron, SVP Creative Director Brand Design, Nickelodeon
