The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that aim to better measure students’ critical-thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate. Through a series of high quality, computer-based K–12 assessments in Mathematics and English Language Arts, teachers, schools, and parents can rest assured that students are on track for success.

Barron’s is pleased to offer these newly revised study guides to help students prepare for these tests in the State of New Jersey. In our Grade 3 ELA/Literacy Test workbook, students will find:

• Two full-length practice tests, one PBA and one EOY, with answers and explanations
• In-depth review through engaging lessons, hints, and tips for all elements of each PARCC test
• Content that is reflective of classroom lessons and fully aligned to the Common Core Curriculum
• An explanation and overview of the PARCC assessments

The PARCC assessments were first administered during the 2014-15 school year. This Grade 3 ELA/Literacy Test workbook can be used at home or in school to reinforce classroom lessons and help put students in the best possible position for success.

Donna Mullaney is currently Supervisor of English Language Arts, K–5, in Plainfield, New Jersey. She helped to create a curriculum in her district that aligned to the Common Core State Standards and has facilitated workshops on standards-based instruction and PARCC. Additionally, she worked as a literacy coach for the NJDOE, where she presented literacy workshops throughout the state, coached teachers, and supported best practices in literacy. After leaving the NJDOE, she continued to work as a literacy coach in Plainfield. Donna served as an interventionist for her district before becoming a supervisor. She began her career in Philadelphia, where she taught both primary and upper elementary grades. She is passionate about literacy and considers herself a lifelong learner. She currently resides in East Brunswick with her husband, Robert, and her Jack Russell Terrier, Penny. Her two daughters, Taryn and Kelly, also share her love of literature!
