About the Author


Jerry C. Whitaker is a well-known author is the field of video, TV, HDTV, and radio, and President of Technical Press, Inc. Author and editor of numerous books on technical topics, he wrote the leading technical manual in television, The Standard Handbook of Video and Television Engineering. He is also the author of Video and Television Engineers' Field Manual; DTV: The Revolution in Digital Television; The Communications Facility Design Handbook, as well as other standard references. In 2000, he was appointed Technical Director of ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee), the international, non-profit organization charged with developing voluntary standards for digital television. A Fellow of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), he currently teaches a course at UCLA on power control and distribution. He lives in Morgan Hill, California.
