    About the Author


    Jennifer Dugwen Chieng is a former Rio 2016 Olympic boxer. Her initial exposure to boxing happened as a young girl living in a household where combat sports and martial arts movies were often watched. Although Dugwen grew up in Micronesia, a country in the west pacific region, where access to formal coaching and boxing gyms were not available at the time, her passion to pursue learning the sweet science remained strong. She was finally able to begin her training when she moved to New York in 2008. Since then Dugwen’s passion for boxing evolved into a love for martial arts. In 2016 Dugwen transitioned into mixed martial arts and currently competes in MMA. She teaches Muay Thai and boxing for fitness out of her fitness boutique studio in Manhattan.
