Martha grew up on Long Island, New York. At the time, and it was not THAT long ago, it was potato fields, dirt roads and big drive-in theaters. Nature was all around. She was always driven to writing, and after her children were born, this book was conceived. Somehow, life always got in the way of putting these thoughts on paper, but, she never forgot the words of her story. They came back to her when her grandson was born. She felt other parents and grandparents shared her sentiments. This book is for her family, and for all families, no matter how they came to be.As a child, Therese loved to draw. She studied art in college and enjoyed a long, award-winning career as a graphic designer. She then took her experiences to the classroom and enjoyed a second career teaching graphic arts and photography. "Did You Think it was Chance" is the first children's book that she's illustrated. She used a combination of water colors for the backgrounds, and Adobe Illustrator to draw the characters. Therese says, "It's been a joy getting to know the animals and their special traits and bringing each one of them to life!"
